Trauma Center Second Opinion 3-10 XS in 0'25"500 [TAS]
This is a tool-assisted speedrun (TAS). This means input was recorded for each individual frame with assistance of external tools such as save states.
In this video, I clear TCSO's 3-10 operation as fast as possible while obtaining an XS rank. This one is super quick, thanks to Triti only being a nightmare when you can't properly use your forceps at appropriate speeds. Extracting the thorns and cells is as simple as grabbing and letting go of them on the first frame possible.
The big challenge on this one was scoring optimization. If you do the COOL incision and bandaging, you get plenty of time (19 seconds to be precise) to do everything and get a XS by a lot. You can extend that to 33 seconds if you boost the vitals up to 99. Now, if you try to skip the optional COOLs:
If you skip disinfecting and getting a COOL bandage, you lose 160 points, which restricts your time limit to 1 second, assuming you do boost vitals to 99 (remember you lose 5 points for every second used or vital point missing). Thus, it's impossible to skip the bandage, since we can't complete the episode in 1 second.
Skipping the disinfecting and getting a COOL incision makes you lose 120 points, which gives a time limit of 9 seconds, which is more than enough. However, since we start with 85 vitals, we'd need to boost vitals to 90 to get a limit of... 0 seconds. Thus, I had to work out exactly how much time it'd take to get rid of Triti and boost vitals, so that I'd have the exact amount of points fo XS. A detail on how the score goes:
Stage Score w/bad Incision: 2150
Bonus points: 2000
XS threshold: 6100
Time and Vital bonus must add up to 1950. If we have max (495) Vital bonus, the time required is exactly 9 seconds. For each 200ms we save from that, we can drop 0.2 vitals. In the end, the balance I reached was:
5.2 seconds used (or 294.8 seconds left): 1474 points
95.2 vitals remaining (or 10.2 vitals boost): 476 points
1474 + 476 = 1950 😀
This is why you see me using the syringe at the end, to boost enough vitals to get the right amount of bonus.
If you're wondering why it seems like I'm waiting at times, it's because of in-op dialogue that prevents you from performing inputs until it scrolls by, forcing me to wait a bit to start moving again.
At the end, you can skip the post-op dialogue by choosing to return to episode select. You can also skip regular text by pressing the - button.
