AM2R Area 4 Any% TAS in 2:59.483
Tried to squish up to the last frame I could by playing at full speed and with the use of states at the entrance of each door, gladly it pays off by barely hitting sub 3.
Took me around 3 days to figure the route, improve it then finding new things and redoing it.
Looks like Zetas's hitbox is pretty much broken so we can take advantage of that easily in single segment runs, as well as maybe finding a way to skip the first refill.
I'm going to describe certain things about the TAS:
00:38 By firing a well timed super and if it hits, the metroid is not going to react whatsoever. Ended up saving a little bit of time here and on the next zeta.
00:46 Firing and walljumping proved to be the fastest method to get to the upper left room.
00:53 This spark requires jumping on the very first frame that is possible to jump without losing the boost and morphing just before hitting the spike in order to get through it.
01:08 This spark gets two supers and it's slower by around 3/4 of a second against just getting one but this proved to be well worth it for later.
01:33 I fire before the room transition to negate the delay from the previous somersault so I can jump again instantly in the next room.
01:39 After getting two extra supers from those two enemies, I can skip a refill and go directly after the Zeta, then I skip the other refill but ends up being an RNG grind in order to get the rest of the supers.
02:17 Sometimes depending on where you fire the super and how's your vertical speed, the Gamma will not react and just get hit even if he didn't dodge (technically he should be inmune but he still gets hit).
02:20 Here you can see a different ammo count but that's because it would take a really long time to get four supers of those enemies.
02:33 That super has hit thanks to the projectile getting misaligned by the camera, it was just for swag but an alternate strat would be just firing at his back when he is crouched.
Then I start exploiting his hitbox by firing two supers to his back while he's spitting the acid.
02:53 That's almost a frame perfect jump to avoid just that tile and having the necessary height to get into the tunnel without losing speed.
Hope you enjoyed this little video, I would like to do more of this but I'm going to wait for the TAS tools that Lojical is going to be working after the 1.4 update, so I can start tinkering with the speed and getting more precise results.
